Package Itinerary

Day 1: Panama City

Upon your arrival at the International Airport, you will go through the immigration process. Your driver, who is fluent in English with a Panamanian accent, will be ready and waiting for you. The duration of the drive to your Bed and Breakfast (B&B) will depend on the traffic conditions, but it typically takes about 50 minutes.

Day 2: Private City Tour

Following breakfast, your guide will be at the hotel at 9:00 a.m. to begin the city tour. The tour includes a visit to the Miraflores Locks (Panama Canal). Please note that the entrance fee for the Miraflores Locks is not included. After that, you'll explore the colonial part of Panama City, which is a UNESCO-protected area reminiscent of old Havana, with its cobblestone streets and lively Caribbean salsa music echoing from every corner. Be sure to make time for a local lunch (not included).

Day 3: Private Soberanía Tour (Around 6 hrs)

Today, your guide awaits to accompany you to Soberania Park. Soberania National Park is renowned as one of the most accessible areas for birdwatching and wildlife observation in Central America. The esteemed Pipeline Road, famous among birdwatchers worldwide, is known for its abundant bird species. It ranks among the top locations in the Americas for observing tropical birds, boasting a record of over 400 species.

Day 4: Panama City - Boquete

We have organized a private transfer to the local airport for your domestic flight to David. Upon arrival, a driver will be waiting to transport you to Boquete. Depending on your arrival time, your room may not be immediately available, but you can securely store your luggage. The hotel is conveniently located near the village center, allowing you to explore the area and perhaps savor one of Boquete's exceptional coffees. Boquete is often referred to as the "breadbasket of Panama," thanks to its ideal climate for coffee cultivation, and strawberry production, and lush pastures for grazing animals.

Day 5: Boquete

The Sendero de Los Quetzales is one of Panama's most exquisite trails. The 7 to 12 km path typically takes between four to seven hours, depending on your physical condition or how much time you wish to take. It stretches between Cerro Punta and Boquete, featuring multiple river crossings over Río Caldera. This trail offers an excellent opportunity to spot the elusive Quetzal, along with other equally remarkable birds such as Tanagers (flame-colored, blue-gray, Passerini’s), Honeycreepers, Woodpeckers, Hummingbirds, and the enchanting natural surroundings.

Excluded: Drinks (which you need to carry yourself), consider bringing some energy bars, and a tip for the guide.
Please note that you'll be departing early, around 06:30 am to 07:00 am.

Day 6: Boquete - Totumas Mount

Today, a 4x4 driver will be waiting to take you to Mount Totumas, the highest cloud forest lodge in Panama, situated at an elevation of 1700 meters. The journey lasts approximately two hours, covering around 78 kilometers.

Mount Totumas isn't your typical 5-star resort; it's a remarkable place for nature and wildlife enthusiasts. The owners are a living encyclopedia of information about trees, animals, and even tiny beetles. You'll quickly feel like a part of the family.

Your package includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Non-alcoholic beverages are also part of the deal.

Stay at the Mount Totumas Lodge in a Geisha room or an equivalent accommodation with a comfortable queen-size bed. This package includes breakfast, dinner, and a selection of non-alcoholic beverages.

Day 7- 8: Totumas Mount

Today, you have free time to explore the numerous self-guided marked trails available to guests, with eight distinct options described in more detail below. Additionally, guided trails to the summit of Mount Totumas and remote areas in La Amistad National Park are available. Your hosts, Jeffrey and his wife, will provide you with plenty of valuable insights and help you feel right at home. If you prefer, you can also choose to hire a guide on one of the upcoming days, with Jeffrey offering advice on this matter.

You'll be staying at the Mount Totumas Lodge in a double room, which includes breakfast, a leisurely lunch, and dinner, with non-alcoholic beverages provided.

Day 9: Totumas Mount - Santa Catalina

As we bid farewell to these enchanting places, we welcome the Pacific Ocean with open arms. Your next destination is Santa Catalina, a tropical getaway that serves as your gateway to the stunning Coiba National Park. Coiba National Park is revered as one of the world's largest national marine parks, spanning across the southern region of Veraguas province, encompassing an area of 2,701 square kilometers, which includes the Coiba Island itself and 38 other adjacent islands.

This captivating piece of paradise is characterized by lush tropical forests, unique ecosystems, and a plethora of endemic species, and boasts the second-largest coral reef in the Pacific. It has earned the prestigious recognition of being declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Coiba is a sanctuary where three different species of sea turtles come to nest, and it has already documented the presence of 33 various shark species. Moreover, it plays host to several species of dolphins and whales.

The park is a haven for bird enthusiasts, as it boasts over 145 avian species, and its rich biodiversity is further exemplified by a staggering count of 1,450 plant species. This region stands as one of Panama's most beautiful areas, offering remarkable opportunities for snorkeling, diving, and fishing. It is a truly spectacular experience as Coiba, along with Ecuador's Galapagos Islands and Costa Rica's Coco Island, is part of the same subsea mountain range.

Day 10: Coiba Island

Around 08:00, your exciting day trip to Coiba by boat kicks off. The boat journey takes approximately 80 minutes, and throughout the day, we'll visit three different locations, each offering a unique experience. You'll have the chance to snorkel, witness abundant marine life, relax on pristine white sand beaches, and immerse yourself in the crystal-clear waters of this stunning area.

During our explorations and depending on the timing, it's quite common to encounter a diverse array of marine life, including whales, turtles, dolphins, and an abundance of fish species.

The tour price includes snorkeling equipment, featuring masks and snorkels, and a delicious cold lunch prepared in a picnic style. The lunch typically consists of options like rice with chicken and vegetables, or a scrumptious sandwich paired with fresh fruit. Vegetarian options are available upon request, and the boats are equipped with a cooler filled with refreshing ice and water.

Please note that the entrance fee to the National Park is not included in the tour price.

Day 11: Santa Catalina

Enjoy a few days of leisure to explore, savor, and unwind at your own pace. You'll discover a wide array of activities to choose from, and you might particularly enjoy embarking on a sunset tour one evening.

Day 12: Return to Panama City

Today, you'll be transferred to David Airport for your flight to Panama City. Upon your arrival in Panama City, we've arranged a private transfer back to Hotel Central. If you happen to arrive before the check-in time, you can securely store your luggage. You might want to take advantage of this time to explore the Museum of Biodiversity designed by Frank Gehry.

The museum's architecture and exhibitions are dedicated to showcasing the fascinating story of how the Isthmus of Panama emerged from the sea, connecting two continents, dividing a vast ocean, and permanently altering the planet's biodiversity.

The exhibitions are primarily curated by the Smithsonian Institution and the University of Panama, with a strong emphasis on Panama's remarkable biodiversity. Alternatively, you can choose to explore the hotel's surroundings.

Day 13: Panama City

You have a free day on your itinerary, but there's a fantastic optional partial canal cruise excursion available, especially appealing on Saturdays. Alternatively, you might find it intriguing to explore Panama La Vieja, where you can view the historic ruins that were once set ablaze by the infamous pirate, Henry Morgan. This visit also offers excellent opportunities for bird watching, as the coastal area attracts various seabird species.

Day 14: Panama City to International Airport

We will arrange a private transfer to the airport for you. If your departure time is after the hotel's standard check-out time, you can conveniently store your luggage at the reception.
