We will depart directly from your hotel in Panama City to Lake Bayano, approximately a 2-hour journey. This lake was created in 1976 when a dam was constructed to provide hydroelectric power to the provinces of Panama City and Darien. Upon reaching the Bayano Lake Bridge, you'll be treated to spectacular natural landscapes and embark on a 25-minute boat ride to our private cabin.
Along this route, you will observe the islands that emerged after the Bayano River dam and how the preexisting mountains were transformed into these islands. Next, we'll head to a private islet in the reservoir, where, along with a specialized local guide, we will prepare for our adventure into the Bayano Caves, precisely in the community of Pueblo Nuevo, the heart of Bayano.
Upon entering the caves, you will be captivated by the fascinating rock formations (including multiple stalactites and stalagmites) and the wildlife that inhabits the space. Keep a keen eye out for bats, reptiles, and spiders! As you explore, you'll have the chance to see and enjoy an underground river with bright sunlight. After exploring the caves, we'll return to the island for a well-deserved break and a delicious typical lunch.
After the break, it will be time for our next activity: kayaking! Start paddling in our kayaks along the Tigre River. Along the journey, you'll be able to admire its stunning landscape, various species of tropical birds, and exotic wildlife in a peaceful environment. We'll make a stop for those who want to leap the spectacular Tourist Ranch directly into the Tigre River.
If you choose not to participate in the kayaking activity, you can relax, sunbathe, and have lunch at our private cabin located on our small island.
At the end of our two-hour kayaking trip along the Tigre River, we will return to the islet and then to our private 4x4 Jeep for the journey back to Panama City. You will be dropped off at your hotel around 6:00 to 6:30 PM.
