Your journey begins at El Nacional Restaurant in Casco Viejo, the historic colonial center of Panama City. You'll walk with your expert local guide to gather your customized ingredients from the two main markets in the old town of Panama. First, you'll visit the famous Mercado de Mariscos, Panama's largest seafood market. With your guide's assistance, you'll select the perfect fish for your ceviche from the many varieties delivered daily by local fishermen from the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Then, you'll walk a short distance to Mercado San Felipe Neri. Here, you'll navigate the organized chaos of local vendors selling the freshest meats, fruits, and vegetables that Panama has to offer. Once you have your ingredients, you'll return to El Nacional's cooking studio to begin the cooking class.
During the hands-on cooking class, you'll create a 5-course menu of classic Panamanian dishes from scratch while learning about the spices and herbs that are unique to Panamanian cuisine.
