This morning, your journey begins with a private transfer from Boquete as you cross the scenic Continental Divide en route to Almirante. However, before you arrive at the charming harbor town, you'll immerse yourself in a captivating Cacao tour. What sets this tour apart is that it is entirely run and managed by indigenous Ngabe farmers. Here, you'll gain not only insights into the art of chocolate making but also have the opportunity to hike through lush jungle and cacao tree groves, with the possibility of spotting various animals like poison dart frogs, sloths, and toucans, which is not uncommon in this area.
The tour's highlight is undoubtedly the chocolate demonstration, where local Ngabe women dressed in traditional attire impart their centuries-old chocolate-making techniques to each visitor. This entire experience unfolds beneath the shelter of a traditional thatched-roof rancho nestled within the mountainous cacao farm, adding an extra layer of authenticity to the chocolate-making demonstration. The tour culminates with a traditional Ngabe meal, featuring some of the most delectable vegetables, local roots, and chicken dishes. After approximately three hours, your driver will accompany you to the boat in Almirante.
Upon your arrival, a seat on the public boat to Bocas has already been reserved for you.
Included in this experience are a private transfer, a non-private tour guided by a native English-speaking guide, a local indigenous Ngobe lunch, and a boat ride to Bocas.
Please note that this tour is also available from Bocas!
