La Yeguada Forest Reserve

Veraguas, Panama

Yeguada is located in Calobre, Veraguas, and is the country's first forest reserve. It was established in 1960 to protect the San Juan River watershed, ensuring a clean and ample water supply for the Yeguada hydroelectric plant. This area has now become one of the best camping destinations in the country, thanks to its beautiful lakes, rivers, waterfalls, and mountain landscapes.

It's a perfect place for enjoying quality time and relaxation with your family. You can have a barbecue, go for a swim in the magnificent lakes, and admire the stunning mountains. Yeguada Lagoon is a former stratovolcano-type volcanic crater transformed into a lagoon located in the Calobre district of Veraguas Province, Panama. The lagoon covers an area of 1,125 km²
